Bringing in the Street Wall
Date
Spring 2020
Location
Manhattan, New York City
Role
Lead Designer
Project type
Art Museum
Duration
16 Weeks
This project is an extension to an already existing museum in Manhattan, New York, right next to Central Park. The existing museum held collection Austrian fine art and sculptures.
A requirement for the addition was for it to be made out of CMU blocks. I designed a block to go on the main wall of the project because it embodied the concept to break the street wall therefore it had to be represented differently. As well as still needing to be made in a way that brings in light to the building which is achieved with vertical slits in the block
Along with this wall, the concept broke the street wall of 5th Ave and brought people into the building from the street. Therefore, the areas the feature wall creates social spaces.
