User-Centered, Staff Satisfaction,Lifecycle Efficiency, and Indoor-Outdoor Connection with Nature design principles served as our guide as we created this project. We prioritized enough space for necessary work activities, developed an effective and simple circulation system, and incorporated rooms that are helpful to the well-being of staff and other users into the program in order for this building to be considered user-centered and staff-satisfactory. Scientific research has demonstrated that including natural elements and views of nature can speed
patient’s recovery and raise staff morale.
The building itself is divided into two wings that are linked by a central lobby space. We consolidated all medical functions into one wing, the east wing, which has three floors. The other wing is open to the public and houses a cafe, pharmacy, and other building services. The lobby features an atrium in the center that is meant to be see-through, allowing both arrivals and departures from the building to be seen.
